My first dance steps
I started dancing when I was only 5 years old and since then I have never stopped. This passion, I owe it to Makau Foster Delcuvellerie, grande dame of Ori Tahiti. She not only taught me the basics of dancing, but also passed on her love for the art to me. My first experiences on stage began very early, with performances at the Heiva des écoles de danse and in hotels in Tahiti. The Makau dance school and my integration in the group Fenua by Guy Laurens allowed me to travel to various destinations such as Hawaii, the United States, Japan or Chile, in order to share our culture.
My experiences at Heiva i Tahiti
In 2001, I participated for the first time in Heiva i Tahiti, with the group Tamariki Poerani of Makau. Since then, I have been able to enrich my experience at Heiva thanks to numerous other participations within Tamariki Poerani but also within other groups such as Ori i Tahiti of Teraurii Piritua, O Tahiti E of Marguerite Lai, or Hitireva of Kehaulani Chanquy.

My experiences at Hura Tapairu
My very first time at the Hura Tapairu was in 2010 with the group Purotuhauhere, specially created for the occasion by Claudia Joussin. We competed there in the Mehura category. Then each year that followed, I participated in Hura Tapairu: several times in the Tamariki Poerani group, but also in other groups like Hana de Enda Tanseau, the Ha'avai group of Taero Jamet and with my group IA ORA TE HURA.
My experiences as a choreographer
The creation of choreography is something that I particularly like. While preparing Tamariki Poerani for Hura Tapairu 2012 and Heiva 2014, I was able to initiate myself into choreographic composition, by developing the gestures of certain dances with Makau and by offering her some ideas for movement. But it was in 2017 that I was able to really express my creativity. Indeed, for the Heiva, Makau offered me the opportunity to be one of the main choreographers of the group alongside Francky Tehiva and supported by Shelby Hunter and Kohai Batani-Gournac. I was thus able to develop the choreography of certain dances, such as the final ote'a aroha for example, and almost all the movements of the show (except those concerning the dances performed by the boys). For the first time, Tamariki Poerani won the much-coveted first prize in the Hura Tau category. The same year, with a slightly different team of choreographers (Francky Tehiva, Reiarii Rochette and myself), Tamariki Poerani participated in the Hura Tapairu 2017 in the categories Tapairu ('ote'a and' aparima), apipiti 'ote' a and pahu nui. We won the first prize in all these categories and the Hura Tapairu grand prize. For this competition, I only took on the role of choreographer and not that of dancer because I was expecting a happy event.
My experience as head of the IA ORA TE HURA group
Following our collaboration at Hura Tapairu 2017, my cousin Reiarii Rochette and I decided to create our own group, IA ORA TE HURA, in order to participate in Hura Tapairu 2018. For our first experience as group leaders, we formed a group made up exclusively of girls. The theme chosen was Arioi Vahine (Tetuahutia te arioi fanaunau), which told the story of an arioi who became pregnant and who chose to sacrifice her life as arioi rather than her child. The choice of this ending was largely influenced by what I was going through because I gave birth to a baby boy that year. The conductor was Tamatea Teraa, the aparima were composed by Teiva Viaris and the texts were written by Yann Mamatui. The night we went to the competition, I was at the control room where we had to manage all the technical part of the show, and for our second performance on the final evening, I was a dancer. For its first participation, IA ORA TE HURA won the 2nd prize in the aparima category, the 3rd prize at the Pahu Nui and a special prize for the quality of its aparima. Since 2020, I have been leading the group alone. We had started to prepare for this year's Hura Tapairu, unfortunately it had to be canceled due to the health crisis. It's only a postponement, we look forward to seeing you at Hura Tapairu 2020.
